Q: How did you first get into illustration? Were you always a creative person?
A: I love drawing since I was little but never thought that I would grow up doing it for a living. I went to college in Los Angeles and majored in Graphic Design. After working at different companies, I realized my interest in drawing animal characters, so I branched out and started doing illustration.
Q: What are your points of reference in the world of illustration? Who and what inspires you?
A: Anything in daily life can inspire me! Friends, strangers, travel, fashion, food, my cat. :) I find a lot of successful illustrators have a very strong sense of observation in their surroundings. I would love to develop that in myself too.
Q: What do you enjoy to draw most? You grew up in Hong Kong, however you are currently living in USA.
I love drawing cute animals, especially cats! I can't help it! :D
Q: Has working in a new country affected your art style?
A: I didn't study art nor work in creative industry until I moved to the United States for college. However, I definitely got a lot of influence from my childhood in Hong Kong. That reflects on my art style. I embrace it because it's versatile and helps me gain clients not only from the US, but Europe and Asia as well.
Q: When you are not working, what do you love to do?
A: I'm a foodie and love keeping up with the food/restaurant scene. I have a list of the hottest restaurants to visit. It's fun and satisfying!
